I’ll do a more in-depth feature on the new range soon, but for now, let’s focus on the Layne Madras check jacket by Anglozine.

Why? Well, look at it. I think this is likely to be my go-to summer jacket if the weather cooperates this year. It has pretty much everything you would want – style, functionality and a uniqueness that will get you noticed.

It’s from the upcoming spring/summer range from Anglozine that’s just filtering in right now, officially known as the Smashed and Blocked Cricket Tour. And from that you can work out where the inspiration comes from—a mix of the 1960s (not least via John’s Children) and some cricket styling—a ‘Freak Beat cricket team’, if that makes sense.

That said, the range looks to rework some Anglozine successes and introduce some new looks, with this one being more the former.

This is a very cool lightweight jacket (or borderline shirt jacket) in a green madras check. I have featured Madras casual jackets before, not least with the Ivy League anoraks by J. Press, but not quite like this one.

This jacket in a ‘pavilion green’ madras check is a limited edition design made in London. It is complete with a chest pocket, front pockets, an inside pocket, half lining, an under-collar trim (to keep it in shape), a YKK zip, and a drawcord hem with clear toggles. Oh yes, a button cuff too.

It’s a strong look with a vintage slant, and it’s an eye-catcher for the spring and summer. Just on the shelves, it’s available for £280.
