The cost of getting one is likely to mount up, but I do so love these vintage-style ivy league anoraks by J. Press.

When I mention costs, I am, of course, talking about the cost of getting one in the UK. If you are in the US then you are in luck as you will not have to pay the hefty shipping plus additional taxes that will be dropped on you in the UK. Bitter? Just a bit. I might have to work on my family in the US to convince them to send one as a (very generous) present.

It’s not J. Press’s fault. It’s just the pain of getting clothing shipped from overseas these days. I wish J. Press would open a UK-based online store. It would do so well.

Especially if they made these wonderful vintage anoraks available. Designs that scream the ivy league era and something that could be essential at this time of the year. Warm, with the threat of the odd shower. I might just have to bite the bullet and go for it.

The range landed a year or so back, then died off. Presumably, because most of the original designs sold out. But a look at the J. Press website now doesn’t just suggest a restock of designs. It shows an expanded range.

For my money, the seersucker (which has been updated this year) and madras (also updated) designs literally jump off the page, but I can see the appeal of more subtle designs. The Blackwatch has its appeal, too, especially in the autumn/winter months. Have a look and see for yourself if any work for you.

The design is much the same across the board, finish aside. So a classic fit, drawstring waist, more drawstrings for the collar/hood, a horizontal Zipped chest pocket, and some button details to the cuff.

Sizes are small through to XXL, and the price is $145. I could live with that – but as I said earlier, I do worry about the added postage and tax on top.
