Designed for the winter and for many years to come, this Heimat Signal Stripes heavyweight sweater is built to last.
It isn’t cheap, that’s for sure. But this isn’t billed as cheap knitwear. This is premium knitwear designed to see you through many years and constructed to do just that.
Described as a heavy-knit jumper, the bold stripes pull you in, taking inspiration from uniforms worn by sailing teams and old-school pitstop crews in motor racing. But beyond that, there’s much to appreciate here.
For one, this is produced once a full kilogram of 100 per cent virgin wool with a signature heavy 5-gauge knit. Trust me, this is the jumper you want when the temperatures drop.
Note also the extra-long fibres used, said to be highly resistant to pilling, ensuring this keeps looking good for years to come. Natural oils are also left in the wool yarn, meaning these jumpers have ‘self-cleaning and water-resistant properties’. The sleeves and collar are also attached by hand, which is more labour-intensive than using a standard machine stitch but results in a superior finish.
So a lot has gone into this sweater, which is available in the two colours you see here. But it means it comes at a price. £230 for one of these, although Stuarts currently has 20 per cent off everything using a code on the site, so that price does come down a bit.
