An update for the time of year, with the Baracuta x Goldwin G9 Gore-Tex Harrington Jacket, hopefully keeping you dry in the autumn.
It’s the classic Baracuta G9 jacket we all know and love. But with a couple of differences. First off, this is a collaboration, with Baracuta teaming up with Japanese outerwear experts Goldwin to make something that’s a bit more autumn/winter-ready than your standard Harrington.
Yes, I know the Harrington tends to be constructed from a shower-resistant material. But it’s not so good in more of a downpour. That’s where this upgraded G9 comes in. As you probably worked out from the title, this is made of Gore-Tex. Which means it’s ready for the tougher weather conditions.
Not just that, there’s a tweak to the inside as well. The Fraser Tartan lining remains, but the fabric composition transitions to mesh, which hopefully adds to the weatherproofing. Also, the classic buttons are replaced with ‘discreet’ black metal buttons.
Not that any of that will jump out. This is still the same G9 cut, with a stand-up collar and an umbrella yoke at the back. Other details include a logoed zip tag, raglan sleeves for extra movement, two diagonal frontal pockets with hidden press button closures, ribbed tone-on-tone cuffs and waistband, and an internal pocket.
Note also the fit, which is described as oversized. Presumably to give you room for a chunky knit underneath in the winter if you want some added warmth.
Two colours are available, and neither comes cheap at £510. But you get the idea that this is built to last – and will serve you well for quite some time.
