This is usually described as a raincoat, but as you can see, the Baracuta G10 Shetland overcoat doesn’t quite fit that description.
Of course, I have featured the G10, when it dropped into the Baracuta Sale at the back end of last year. It’s a constant in the range, but tends to be constructed from a waterproof fabric, essentially a mix of laminated polyester and cotton. A good option if you get caught in a downpour and available in classic form here if you want one.
But I’m to talking about the classic G10, I am looking at this new version, which has what’s described as the Tech Shetland finish, which is the Shetland cloth of Abraham Moon mixed with neoprene.
The fit is slightly of the Baracuta G10 Shetland overcoat different too. described as the ‘Authentich Fit’, which is ‘softer wearing; in comparison to a regular one. I think that means a tough more room.
But the design is the same outside of the fitting and the cloth, so front fastening with hidden buttons, an umbrella-effect yoke on the back and traditional trench pockets.
Never a cheap coat at the best of times, but with of the Shetland finishes here this version is pricier than standard versions, coming in at £610.
