Not the first time I have featured a version of this coat and definitely not the last. But now I’m talking about the M51 Parka by Stan Ray.
Yes, this is pretty much the classic M51 parka and if you want one, available in military surplus form. There are plenty on eBay if that’s what you are looking for.
But if you fancy something a little more refined, then perhaps read on. That’s because American label Stan Ray has made its own reproduction or reworking of the military coat that takes away the rough edges.
This take on the M51 steps uses fully taped seams and a nylon shell for the olive, making the whole garment completely waterproof. The black has a different fabric in its construction with a ‘soft washed handle’.
Also here is a fishtail hem, zip fastened font, snap popper storm flap, large adjustable hood and Velcro patch detailing on the upper left arm.
The fit is described as ‘generous’, colours are the olive and black you see here and the price is £265.
