It’s a colour combination that’s always popular, so good to see the 1960s Adidas Tokyo trainers return in white, red and blue.
The Tokyo has been a popular reissue of late for Adidas – you might recall me featuring one reissue in white and green back in March. One of a number of reissues from the 1960s, which seems to be the Adidas focal point right now for reissues.
The Adidas Tokyo was never intended for the streets. It was launched as a track and field sports shoe for (you guessed it) the 1964 Olympic Games in Tokyo. But when you design a shoe this cool, you want to get it on the shelves.
The spikes became a thing of the past, Adidas added in a minimal sole unit and it was ready to go as a leisure shoe.
Outside of the colour, this isn’t greatly different to the shoe that landed in March. The colour is white, with red and blue stripes, plus the trademark cross detail in blue at the rear. There’s also the suede toe and all the old-school branding you would expect of a reissued shoe like this.
A smart option for summer, and all sizes have just landed. If you want a pair, they retail for £85.
