Adidas Italia 70s trainers reissue (image credit: Adidas)
A variation on a classic Adidas theme here with the return of the rather niche Adidas Italia 70s trainers.
You likely know the Adidas Italia in its original state—I featured it in my best 1960s-style trainers round-up on Modculture a while back, and to be honest, it doesn’t appear in its original 1960s shape very often. I know there’s a limited edition handmade version coming that I’ll tell you about later. Standard versions are less seen these days.
So, the Adidas Italia 70s coming back is a nice bonus. There are differences in look, but those differences are subtle. There is no ‘pull’ at the back here, a slightly longer tongue, and not a great deal else. But those changes do make it more of a ’70s shoe.
The other details are as you expect, with much still in common with the original shoe that launched in the 1960s when the Olympics landed in Rome: the running-style sole, the leather upper, the cross design at the rear, a suede overlay, and a toe bumper. Of course, there are contrasting details and Adidas branding.
Just landed in all sizes, certain to be popular in light of so few reissues, the two colours are available for £100.
