Design classic: 1970s Fjallraven Kanken rucksack

The first in an occasional series of timeless classics features an item that really hasn't aged a day since it was first introduced back in 1978 - the Fjallraven Kanken rucksack.

Indeed, the bag hasn't changed over the 30+ years either. If it isn't broke, why try and fix it? Made of a lightweight and durable Vinylon F fabric, the bag keeps your essentials dry in the rain and offers plenty of room for those items too.

A main pocket will carry an A4 folder (for example) or a laptop (part protected by a padded back panel), with an extra internal pocket, a zipped front pocket and two side pockets which are ideal for your bits and pieces. It's also good for throwing in all your essentials for a day out too.

As you might have guessed, I've got one and get good use out of my Kanken. If you want one, they're available online in 28 colour choices, as well as size variations if you need bigger or smaller.

The price of a standard-sized Kanken Classic is from £50.
