Hollywood and the Ivy Look by Tony Nourmand and Graham Marsh

Ivy

If the name Graham Marsh sounds familiar, it's because the name was associated with another book we have featured on here, The Ivy Look. Now he's back co-authoring another book on similar ground - Hollywood and the Ivy Look by Tony Nourmand and Graham Marsh.

Published by Reel Art Press and covering 280 pages, the 'coffee table' book looks at the era between 1955 and 1965, specifically zooming in on the discerning Hollywood hipsters with a love of Ivy League clothing, who in turn, brought the look to a wider audience via the movies. From the button-down hip of Steve McQueen, Paul Newman and Anthony Perkins to the preppy style of Woody Allen and Dustin Hoffman, not to mention Clint Eastwood in his ribbed woollen sweater, James Coburn in a seersucker suit and sunglasses, Robert Redford in a black polo-neck and navy blazer, Sidney Poitier in a green, striped jacket with red paisley tie and Warren Beatty in pale chinos with perfectly polished loafers. All oozing effortless cool.

Also featured are on and off-screen stills from some of the classic movies and television series that helped to make ‘Ivy’ so popular around the world, such as Mission Impossible and The Fugitive, plus unseen shots on the set of Psycho, The Graduate, Barefoot in the Park and The Odd Couple. You can pre-order a copy now, £35 is the asking price.
